Berlin, 7 June 2016 – PSI received from Valin ArcelorMittal Automotive Steel Co., Ltd (VAMA) in China the final acceptance for its Production Management Solution based on PSImetals in April 2016. VAMA produces high quality steel for automotive applications and decided to implement PSImetals at its greenfield site in Loudi as one of the pillar of its ambitious goals.
VAMA, a joint-venture between Valin Steel and ArcelorMittal, started the plant construction in June 2012 and produced the first coil in June 2014. The annual production capacity of 1.5 million tons includes 800,000 tons of cold rolled coils, 200,000 tons of aluminium coils, and 500,000 tons of hot-dip galvanized coils.
Starting in 2013, PSImetals was implemented as a comprehensive Production Management Solution to meet the industry specific material complexity and quality as well as Just-in-Time deliveries and the provision of accurate due date quotes. The integrated solution starts with the modules Order Dressing and Planning, followed by Detailed Scheduling and completes with Production & Quality and Logistics. To guarantee seamless integration of all business relevant IT systems, PSImetals is fully integrated in the local SAP installation and the automation systems on the shop floor.

VAMA is benefiting from an integrated planning system from Sales & Operations Planning to Detailed Scheduling. The coverage of logistics reaches from the support of vendor managed stockyards to the hot rolled coil input stock including purchase requisition. This directly leads to a more accurate shipping date determination. The Order Dressing module cares for all quality relevant production instructions necessary for a demanding market like Automotive Industry. To guarantee that all plans and quality presets are actually realized on the shop floor, each production step is managed by the PSImetals modules Production and Quality.
VAMA uses most advanced automotive steel production technology, including Advanced and Ultra High Strength Steel (AHSS and UHSS) grades with levels up to 1200 MPa and Usibor®1500P.
