PSI and RAG Mining Solutions agree on worldwide partnership towards marketing of PSImining for mining automation

Berlin, Herne, 27 October 2009 – PSI and RAG Mining Solutions GmbH have joined together in a partnership for the global marketing of the first worldwide central control system for the automation of mining. PSImining was developed in the course of the joint project "Mining Automation". PSImining utilises state-of-the-art software solutions to monitor, control and automate underground production processes, gate development and infrastructure processes. The proven PSI control system software has been combined with decades of experience and knowledge of RAG Deutsche Steinkohle in underground coal mining in the spirit of mutually beneficial cooperation. The partners are presenting PSImining for the first time to the professional public at the China Coal & Mining Expo in Beijing.
PSImining stands for a holistic coordination of all underground processes and for the first time integrates the monitoring and control of all production processes into one single system. The launch of this system, presently to take place at RAG, illustrates an outstanding innovation for the worldwide mining market. Considerable improvements in efficiency in many fields of the industry are to be expected as well as enhanced extraction in mining operations, results that could not be achieved with previously individually oriented operational areas.
RAG Mining Solutions demonstrates many years of experience in mining technology and mining safety due to the fact that coal deposits in Germany have been characterised by geologically and climatically challenging conditions for mining. PSI control systems have been successfully employed for years at utility companies and industrial enterprises. PSI and RAG Mining Solutions now offer their combined know-how to the global market.
PSI AG develops and integrates complete solutions, on the basis of its own software products, for the management of energy networks (electricity, gas, oil, heat, water), cross-company production management (metals, automotive, mechanical and plant engineering, logistics) and infrastructure management for telecommunications, transport and safety.
