PSI Awarded Contract by Rheinbahn AG
Germany’s largest depot will be controlling processes with PSItraffic in the future
Berlin, 26 January 2011 – The PSI subsidiary PSI Transcom GmbH has been awarded a contract as the general contractor by the Rheinbahn AG for the the supply, installation and commissioning of the new depot management system PSItraffic. In the course of expanding the Lierenfeld work yard, the largest bus and tram depot in Germany, the previous automatic depot management system is being replaced with the PSItraffic/BMS depot management system. The system will then be implemented at four additional depots in Düsseldorf and in the county of Mettmann.
The Lierenfeld depot is a mixed work yard where both buses and trams operate. With the implementation of the new system, the depot processes will be harmonised and the vehicle dispatching and tours improved. The radio-based vehicle tracking will establish the basis for the process control. Along with the efficient use of the existing resources, additional savings potential will be identified. The Rheinbahn AG was one of the first users of depot management systems and decided, on the basis of its years of experience in this field, in favour of the PSI solution.
