PSI Controls Distribution Center at Mistral in Moscow

PSIwms automates the processes in the food warehouse

Berlin, Moscow, 31 January 2011 – Within the scope of a strategic partnership with System Group Rus, the PSI subsidiary PSI Logistics GmbH has implemented the PSIwms warehouse management system for Mistral Trading, one of the largest food producers and distributors in Russia.

The implementation of the system was completed in December 2010. Finished goods are stored in the over 8,000 square meters large distribution centre. Deliveries to the wholesalers and retailers will be made from here. PSIwms optimises the business processes, taking into consideration all the specifics involved with handling food, for instance, expiration dates, weight and sensitivity of the packaging and the various customer requirements with regard to remaining shelf-life. The processes were organised in static and dynamic picking areas, depending on the groups of articles, for the optimisation of the warehouse internal picking processes. To save space in the loading and unloading areas an optimisation logarithm was developed which allows the full palettes to be transported to the dock only when the vehicle to be loaded arrives at the loading bay.

In a subsequent phase, the voucher-oriented picking will be replaced by the pick-by-voice system topSpeech-Lydia. The pick-by-voice technology allows the picker to communicate with the WMS system by means of voice using a mobile terminal. This will reduce paperwork, the rate of errors and reduce the additional personnel costs, improve handling and speed up the picking processes. Mistral Trading is one of the largest suppliers of rice, grits, legumes and unrefined sugar in the Russian market and the exclusive distribution partner for the brands Finn Crisp, Kikkoman, Melitta, Darbo, Del Monte, Campbell’s, amongst others.

PSI AG develops and integrates complete solutions, on the basis of its own software products, for the management of energy networks (electricity, gas, oil, heat, water), cross-company production management (metals, automotive, mechanical and plant engineering, logistics) and infrastructure management for transport and safety. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs 1,400 persons in the group.
