PSIebus ensures the efficient control, charging and dispatching of all zero-emission vehicles in the bus depot

PSIebus - All-in-one solution for your e-bus fleet

PSIebus ensures that your (e-)buses and Trams  are prepared for daily operations and scheduled for the right trips. It monitors and controls all processes in your depots - from vehicle entry to supply, repair and parking - in an efficient, resource-conserving and cost-saving manner. Our integrated, intelligent optimization for dispatching makes the best possible decisions within seconds and supports your dispatchers in the event of operational deviations. With PSIebus, you digitize the processes in your depot, establish a continuous, digital workflow and integrate all areas of your operation: the best prerequisites for managing the many complex tasks in your depots.

The system combines the depot management module PSIeDMS with the charging management system PSIsmartcharging.

PSIeDMS: Vehicle monitoring and block allocation

Energy consumption during operation varies due to a multitude of factors, such as the number of passengers, the outside temperature, the route profile, and driving behaviour. Additional factors include unique characteristics of vehicles, the manufacturer, and the process of battery ageing. As a result, the level of charge and the remaining vehicle range change virtually minute-by-minute.
Live monitoring is therefore indispensable for reliable operation. Vehicle master data and all variable vehicle and environmental data from daily operation are collected in PSIeDMS, forming the basis for forecast calculations and charge planning. Preconditioning the e-buses is started just-in-time, so that all vehicles are sufficiently charged and at operating temperature when the journey begins.

PSIsmartcharging: Network monitoring, control, charge planning

PSIsmartcharging communicates directly with PSIeDMS to ensures that electric buses are charged to the optimal level and on time for their intended routes, while also considering safety aspects. All electrical systems in the depot (feed points, transformers, lines, charging stations) are continuously monitored. In the event of imminent overload or limits to the energy supply, the power is redistributed to restabilise the grid. It is possible to integrate additional battery storage or photovoltaic systems at the depot to increase flexibility.
Electricity price fluctuations can be flexibly taken into account in the charge planning. In the future, it will also be possible to generate additional income – where the corresponding technology is available – by offering an operating reserve.

VDV 463 interface: Intelligent data exchange between depot and charging management

In a pilot project with Hamburger Hochbahn AG, PSI developed an interface for data exchange between depot and charging management systems. It has since been published as VDV publication 463. Among other things, it describes the exchange of information between DMS and CMS and defines the data format and transport protocol for this. Both, loading in the depot and on the route are taken into account.

PSI ready: Certified interface to your chargers

The data exchange between your charge points and PSIsmartcharging is based on an open and certified interface, the OCPP Open Charge Point Protocol. This enables time and cost efficient integration.

Obtaining the "PSI ready" certificate as part of the interface standardization enables charge point manufacturers to connect their chargers quickly and securely to PSIsmartcharging. Transportation companies which have already integrated the PSI load and charging management system save time and costs when integrating "PSI ready" certified chargers.

Deep Qualicision AI: Optimized charge planning

The flexible setting of priorities, which can be switched on and off online and configured both according to the time of day and with weighting, results in an optimized charging strategy. Charging processes only receive as much power as is actually necessary. In the event of imminent overload or restrictions in power supply, the power is redistributed in such a way that the network condition is stabilized again. This saves costs in power procurement and grid connection. The integrated optimization kernel Deep Qualicision AI is characterized by outstanding optimization speed with very high solution quality.

PSIebus integrates all tasks of electromobility in one system

By using the all-in-one solution PSIebus, the transition to new drive technologies succeeds quickly, reliably and safely, because: The system combines the depot management module PSIeDMS with the charging management system PSIsmartcharging and takes into account all the necessary influencing factors and dependencies that are relevant for the efficient control, charging and dispatching of all vehicles - whether in the depot or on the route. The modular structure of the system and its open interfaces make it scalable and future-proof. The system uses standardized interfaces for data exchange and is therefore manufacturer-independent.
