Berlin, 17 December 2015 – GLC Global Logistics Competence Ltd., Munich, one of the globally active logistics developers, has decided to implement PSIglobal. The PSI Logistics GmbH standard system for planning, designing and optimising logistics networks supports the consulting company in the development of strong, sustainable solution concepts for its customers’ supply chains.
GLC develops the foundations of an optimal, global supply chain management. With the “Network Discovery” concept, GLC fosters future-oriented logistics strategies and, taking transportation data, growth prognoses, product launches and market entries into consideration, develops model concepts for robust and flexible transportation networks.
On the IT basis of PSIglobal, GLC maps the existing network structures of local distribution networks and global supply chains, performs analyses of weak points and develops ideal organisational structures for optimal service levels. The wide variety of tools and functions provided by PSIglobal for analysis, modelling and simulation allow for the checking and optimisation of sites or the distribution of articles according to sales markets. In addition, the knowledge attained from the network simulation provides a new basis for customer’s bidding processes.
The standard system is already in use at many renowned logistics service providers and industrial companies. Market leaders such as Hellmann Worldwide Logistics GmbH & Co. KG, the snack producer Intersnack GmbH & Co. KG or the Industrial Division of the Schaeffler Group use PSIglobal for the calculation of the optimal number and location of their stocks in warehouses and at production sites as well as for the maintenance of an efficient supply chain. In the past few years more than 100 million transportation orders have been optimised with the IT system.
On the basis of its own software products, PSI AG develops and integrates complete solutions for energy management (gas, oil, electricity, heat, energy trading), production management (mining, metals, automotive, mechanical engineering, logistics) and infrastructure management for transport and safety. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs 1,700 persons worldwide.
