Airport Prague starts operations with PSI Logistics control software

Central control system manages baggage transport and sorting facilities

Berlin, 28 January 2016 – As the first airport in Europe the Prague Václav Havel Airport manages its complete baggage transport and sorting facilities with the new release 2.8 of the Baggage Handling System PSIairport/BHS which replaced a legacy system. PSI Logistics GmbH was able to implement the migration request received in July in record time during airport operations running 24/7 and hand over the system to the operator company in mid-December,  2 weeks before the due date. The implementation of BHS together with a new redundantly designed sorting control system for managing the complete process required hardly any adjustments.

The new release of the Baggage Handling System PSIairport/BHS is for the first time completely based on PJF the PSI Java based Framework. The transition to the PSI development and programming platform supports the modular structure of the system which can be comfortably expanded to include modules for flight number display or for monitoring of mobile operations on the airport apron and baggage loading. PJF also allows the integration of new, innovative program functions, applications and technologies of other PSI business units into the standard product and thus allows interconnection of the PSI products. This provides Prague Airport with durable stability of the implemented PSI system and high investment security.

With more than eleven million passengers, 119 flight destinations, and 54 airlines the Prague Václav Havel Airport belongs to the top 20 airports in Europe. Today already nearly all large German commercial airports as well as international hubs use PSI Logistics solutions for planning and managing the operative processes of their baggage and passenger handling, thus are making PSI Logistics one of the market leaders for airport solutions.

On the basis of its own software products, PSI AG develops and integrates complete solutions for energy management (gas, oil, electricity, heat, energy trading), production management (mining, metals, automotive, mechanical engineering, logistics) and infrastructure management for transport and safety. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs 1,700 persons worldwide.
