New Public Utility Customer for PSI Energy Business: Stadtwerke Münster

Berlin, 3 August 2015 – Stadtwerke Münster have contracted PSI AG with the renewal of their combined energies control center. The new system is based on the standard platform PSIcontrol, upon which primarily the standard functions will be implemented with multi-utility applications.

The Stadtwerke Münster operate the electricity and pipeline networks (gas, water, district heating) in the greater Münster region. With the renewal of the existing control system for the various sectors, the Stadtwerke Münster aim to fulfil the requirements resulting from the energy transition. The primary objectives are, amongst others, increasing the cost effectiveness, efficient management of the feed-in of renewable energies and the fulfilment of increased safety standards.

The basis for the new system, which will be the same for all networks, is version 4.3 of the PSIcontrol standard system. With this version that is extended past previous versions and has a redesigned graphical user interface, the Stadtwerke Münster are guaranteeing themselves a future-proof system that can be expanded to meet additional new requirements. This further development and, therefore, the securing of the investment will be supported by a long-term maintenance agreement. The new control system consists of two control centers – a primary control center and a backup control center – with a total of eleven working places.

With this contract, which was decided in a competition with various other companies, PSI is able to strengthen and expand its strong position in the public utility sector. Furthermore, this confirms the PSI product strategy in which significant investments have been made in recent years.

On the basis of its own software products, PSI AG develops and integrates complete solutions for energy management (gas, oil, electricity, heat, energy trading), production management (mining, metals, automotive, mechanical engineering, logistics) and infrastructure management for transport and safety. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs 1,700 persons worldwide.
