PSItraffic optimises operational processes at Regionalverkehr Bern-Solothurn AG

Berlin, 25 September 2014 – The PSI Transcom GmbH has been contracted by the Swiss Regionalverkehr Bern-Solothurn AG (RBS) with the delivery of the PSItraffic system for the train management of the rail traffic. As the central system, the PSI solution allows, amongst other things, the dispatchers in the Worblaufen Operational Control Station an even more reliable and optimised control of the operations. The contract signing ceremonies were held on 23 September at the InnoTrans in Berlin.

The RBS AG operates the one-meter track section of the Bern rapid transit north of Bern with three lines as well as the RE line Bern-Solothurn and diverse bus lines. With around 570 trains per workday, the RBS is one of the most frequented private rail systems in Switzerland.

The new PSI control system offers numerous functionalities for the complex requirements of daily rail operations. These include, along with the assurance of reliable and punctual operations, the best possible passenger information, especially in cases of irregularities. The main functionalities of PSItraffic are timetable administration, train tracking, conflict detection as well as recommendations and execution of disposition measures. In the future the system will be supplemented with interfaces, for instance for communicating route setting commands to the remote control and for controlling the train radio system.

On the basis of its own software products, PSI AG develops and integrates complete solutions for energy management (gas, oil, electricity, heat, energy trading), production management (mining, metals, automotive, mechanical engineering, logistics) and infrastructure management for transport and safety. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs 1,700 persons worldwide.
