PSI expands Aare Seeland mobil AG passenger information system to include bus segment

Berlin, 18 February 2015 – The PSI subsidiary PSI Transcom GmbH has been contracted by the Aare Seeland mobil AG (asm) to expand the existing PSItraffic passenger information system to include the bus segment. The bus fleet and passenger information will be controlled from the facility in Wangen.

In addition to rail vehicles, in the future, buses will also be included in the system. Dispatchers will be able to work with a uniform IT system for rail and buses. Passengers will be informed at train stations and bus stops about current departure times, disruptions, delays, substitutions and other important news.

PSItraffic not only makes a guaranteed connection between trains possible, but also between buses and trains, representing a significant improvement in the quality of scheduled service for asm passengers. In the control centre, the system will also reduce the workload on dispatchers because they will be able to monitor and control both modes of transportation with a single system.

Bus tracking will use the board computer app PSItraffic/Mobile, which has already been successfully implemented in trains. In addition to driver login and tracking, it will also transmit instructions from the control centre to drivers. The board computer app can be installed on conventional smartphones and therefore represents an alternative to the classical board computer.

The system is based on the PSItraffic platform for operational monitoring and control of trains and buses, which is already in use at numerous customers around the world.

Headquartered in Langenthal, Aare Seeland mobil transports about 5.8 million passengers annually with trains and busses in the regions Oberaargau, Solothurn and in Seeland.

On the basis of its own software products, PSI AG develops and integrates complete solutions for energy management (gas, oil, electricity, heat, energy trading), production management (mining, metals, automotive, mechanical engineering, logistics) and infrastructure management for transport and safety. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs 1,700 persons worldwide.
