PSI Receives Order from Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH

Dispatching and passenger information system for the Stuttgart Airport Bus Terminal

Berlin, 9 December 2015 – PSI Transcom GmbH has been contracted by the Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH with the delivery of the PSItraffic dispatching system for the Stuttgart Airport Bus Terminal (SAB). This is currently being built on the Stuttgart Airport property and is planned to commence operations in April 2016.

The bus station with 18 roofed gates will be serviced by long-distance and regional bus companies, as well as by spontaneous traffic and airport shuttles. The system, based on the PSItraffic platform, generates daily schedules, compiles the gate planning and presents this to the dispatchers in graphic and tabular views. Should there be planning conflicts, these can be resolved simply with a menu by changing the time a gate is needed as well as by shifting departures to other gates.

Controlling the gate display as well as the display in the terminal and at the entrance is completed automatically with the PSItraffic system. The passengers at SAB will be informed about current arrival and departure times and gate disposition. The LED and TFT displays are being provided by PSI’s long-term partner ib datentechnik GmbH.

The schedules will be transmitted between PSItraffic and the connected transportation companies via interfaces. A VDV interface is in place for the data exchange with the central data hub of the Baden-Württemberg public transportation network.

A potential analysis for the SAB shows that on regular workdays an average of 220 bus arrivals and departures have to be handled. In peak times the amount of vehicles is far above. In addition there are more than 200 rides per day by public transport buses.

Shareholder of the Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH are the state Baden-Württemberg (65%) and the city of Stuttgart (35%).
