Hamburg-Alsterdorf hosting bus depot designed for e-mobility
The new e-bus depot was inaugurated Wednesday (April 24, 2019) in Hamburg-Alsterdorf. As part of the ceremony, Dr. Peter Tschentscher, Mayor of Hamburg, and Henrik Falk, CEO of Hochbahn, pulled a lever to symbolize the company’s focus on climate-friendly travel. Around 240 buses are to depart from the depot as part of Hochbahn’s fleet of electric buses. [...]
Environment-friendly bus depot
The 45,000-square metre depot in Alsterdorf is the most modern in Europe. Buses parked at six carports are supplied with compressed air and electricity when they are not on roads. The growing electric bus fleet will be filled with environment-friendly electricity at the depot, which is opposite the transformer station and links up the depot to Hamburg’s grid. The bus depot is also capable of handling hydrogen technology. Battery-run buses with fuel cells that are ready for series production can be refuelled there.
