Digitalization : PSIpenta/ERP 10 – From software upgrade to competitve advantage

The new PSIpenta/ERP 10 generation of ERP systems represents a significant technological leap forward for companies in the discrete manufacturing sector. It provides a modern technological foundation and opens up opportunities for process automation.

PSIpenta/ERP 10 marks a significant technological advancement for discrete manufacturing companies. This new generation of ERP not only modernizes the technological infrastructure, but also offers concrete opportunities for process automation, system integration, and future requirements preparation. This article will explain the advantages of version 10, what to consider during migration, and how we can support you.

New foundation, proven logic: The technological leap to version 10

PSIpenta/ERP 10 marks a new era in ERP usage. The version is based entirely on the PSI Java platform, has a modular structure, and is largely independent of operating systems or databases. For the first time, PostgreSQL is also supported. These features allow PSIpenta/ERP to flexibly integrate into existing IT landscapes.

One key feature is the rolling release approach. Rather than receiving traditional service packs, customers receive a new minor release every three to six months that includes enhancements, optimizations, and fixes. This new release strategy ensures continuous, clearly structured, predictable, and transparent. Migration from the previous version is performed "in-place" with the help of a special legacy migration package. Consequently, customers do not need to manually adjust the data model and can switch to the new release with a clear technical path and a full range of functions.

Significant advantages: What makes Version 10 better for everyday use

PSIpenta/ERP 10 offers numerous practical enhancements tailored to the needs of discrete manufacturing. Almost every area, from purchasing and production to sales and IT, benefits from well-designed functions that simplify and automate processes. Below, we present the most important new features and their benefits:

An overview of the most important features

  • Global full-text search
Fast, cross-object searches using database-indexed searches with filters, text fragments, and standard key integration - ideal for cross-departmental information needs.
  • Data protection compliant deletion of personal data
The new "Remove person and references" function allows for the GDPR-compliant deletion of sensitive data, including the automatic updating of all linked objects and the assignment of a replacement person. This ensures compliance with GDPR requirements while maintaining data consistency and system logic.
  • User creation via Active Directory
As soon as new users are assigned to a specific group in Active Directory, they are automatically created, including the assignment of the correct ERP role. This significantly reduces administrative effort.
  • Assembly-oriented material planning with virtual product structure
Based on a virtually generated, assembly-oriented bill of materials (mBOM), materials can be assigned to specific work steps in multiple stages. This improves transparency and efficiency in production logistics.
  • Multi-level package management
The system can fully map complex loading units with packaged and unpackaged items, including integration into processes such as goods receipt, scheduling, and shipping.
  • Web-based Workflow Developer
Business processes and interfaces can be simplified and modeled using BPMN (Camunda). PSIpenta/ERP objects and functions can be seamlessly integrated into the same interface, as can external systems such as business applications or Office products. This reduces manual work steps and breaks in communication, speeding up day-to-day business processes.

  • Payment plan in sales
Customer-specific payment steps are flexibly planned, automatically monitored, and directly integrated into liquidity planning.

Systematic migration: How we support our customers

Switching to version 10 is more than just a technical software upgrade. It is a deliberate step toward achieving sustainable process reliability, integration, and digital resilience. To ensure a smooth transition, we are implementing a structured migration strategy

Staging principle

Customers first introduce the new version in a test system before upgrading the productive environment.

Integrated data backup

It is recommended to perform a comprehensive data backup before upgrading. This is an important step in securing the migration process.

Support from PSI

Development, support, and quality assurance work closely together in two-week sprints. This ensures short communication channels, quick responses to feedback, and stable deliveries.

Quality through bundled deliveries

To ensure maximum quality and consistency, individual bug fixes are no longer delivered separately, but only as part of tested, complete packages.

Info for customers with older versions (e.g. 8.x)

Customers using an older version of PSIpenta/ERP must first upgrade to version 9.4 using the "legacy package." Only then can they migrate to version 10. We are happy to assist you with this two-step process. Please contact us for more information.

Ready for the future – sustainable digitalization and operational resilience

PSIpenta/ERP 10 establishes the groundwork for the future of ERP in modern manufacturing companies. This solution facilitates the integration of external systems and allows for more refined, customized process modeling. It also offers a robust architecture that can handle growing requirements in the areas of security, compliance, and automation.

The release is not only a technological advance, but also a strategic step toward sustainable digitalization and operational resilience. Thanks to continuous development in the rolling release model, practical functions, and close support from our expert teams, PSIpenta/ERP 10 is a viable platform for future-oriented, digitally integrated manufacturing processes.
