PSIsaso/DSO meets curative requirements in the control system environment

Berlin, December 7, 2020 – The E.ON SE energy group has commissioned PSI Software AG with implementing Redispatch 2.0 components on the basis of PSIsaso/DSO. Apart from coordinating the new planning process, these also offer high-quality network model forecasts in the control system environment and control system-related solutions. This will make it possible to reliably implement the enhanced requirements on the redispatch process due to the amendment of the new law on accelerating network expansion (NABEG 2.0) by October 1, 2021.

Even ahead of NABEG 2.0, each of the nine distribution system operators of the E.ON Group were relying on the know-how offered by PSI as a long-term partner, whereby important future requirements such as network state forecasts and feed-in management (EisMan) have already been jointly specified and successfully implemented.

These modules are being extended at E.ON under “system control in real time” (ASE). Essential new features include supplying an external redispatch system with high-quality network model forecast datasets and implementing the resulting calls. Curative congestion management and the associated extensive reporting process control and documentation are also applied.

Wolfgang Fischer, PSI Division Manager Electrical Energy, sees a clear trend in the modular use of network calculation functions:

“The PSI network state forecasts are part of our new control system-accompanying product PSIsaso/DSO, which enables modular use, is easily adaptable, and can be connected to high-performance interfaces in a way that is resource saving.”

Apart from preferred topological measures, the necessary foresight for network stability within the forecast horizon also comprises the analysis of outage variants, short circuit findings, reactive power potential and network losses. The generation of network model forecast datasets with a view of at least 36 hours into the future is an elementary component for redispatch in the E.ON Group.

Curative measures will be necessary if states threatening the network arise due to deviations from forecasts from real loads and inputs. This concerns both the stability of the company’s own network and unplanned “additional demands” by upstream network operators.

These curative measures which become spontaneously necessary should be coordinated with the planned calls received by redispatch. This function is now to be integrated for Redispatch 2.0 in the existing feed-in management standard module of the PSIcontrol control system. This will enable all network safety measures, including within the framework of the EnWG, in the area of monitoring and controlling decentralized inputs to be largely automated. All functions will be available to each of the nine E.ON distribution network operators in time for the start of Redispatch 2.0.

Based on its own software products, PSI Group develops and integrates complete solutions for optimizing the flow of energy and material for utilities (energy networks, energy trading, public transport) and industry (metals production, automotive, mechanical engineering, logistics). PSI was founded in 1969 and employs 2,000 persons worldwide.
