PSI modernizes sorting control technology during ongoing operations in main sub-project
Berlin, July 23, 2025 – As part of Flughafen Hamburg GmbH's major “HAM Bag” project, PSI Software SE has been commissioned with a central sub-project to modernize the baggage sorting control computer and IT infrastructure during ongoing operations at Terminals 1 and Plaza at Hamburg Airport. The PSIairport software solution with several modules will be used for this purpose.

Flughafen Hamburg GmbH plans to expand the capacity of its baggage handling system in a future-proof manner by 2030. The multi-stage overall concept includes the technical development of the baggage handling system, baggage sorting, baggage transfer, storage areas, and the associated operating rooms.
The PSIairport/BHS baggage handling system controls the baggage process at the airport efficiently and reliably. In addition, the “Connection Suite” offers seamless integration with third-party systems. The CCTV module handles alarm triggering and the tracking of individual pieces of baggage. The solution is rounded off by a highly available IT infrastructure with scalable server and backup components.
PSI has been a technology partner of Hamburg Airport for more than twenty years. The software solutions in use offer high integration capability, and the option of modernizing and retrofitting existing systems, as well as flexible customization options.
