Berlin, March 12, 2026 – PSI Software SE is participating as a partner in the CloudEnerChain joint project (cloud-based interoperability in energy systems through a secure chain of trust from field devices to control systems to the cloud). The project, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), aims to research and demonstrate interoperable solutions by February 2029 that contribute to secure and verified communication from field devices via cloud and IoT systems to the control system by means of a continuous chain of trust.
Within the project, PSI will develop value-added services in the cloud. In addition, PSI's existing control system technologies will be further developed to enable the secure integration of cloud-based infrastructures and greater interoperability with decentralized IoT components. This will involve developing methods for securing control system architectures, in particular the connection to the Trusted Core Network (TCN) and the use of open interface standards such as IEC 61850/61970.
In addition to PSI Software SE, the six consortium partners include the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT as consortium leader, SWO Netz GmbH, Digimondo GmbH, Bremen University of Applied Sciences, as well as Schleswig-Holstein Netz AG and Rhebo GmbH as associated partners. The project started on March 1, 2026, and the kick-off meeting was held on March 10 and 11, 2026, in Aachen.
The PSI Group develops software products for optimizing the flow of energy and materials for utilities and industry. As an independent software producer with more than 2,300 employees, PSI has been a technology leader since 1969 for process control systems that ensure sustainable energy supply, production and logistics by combining AI methods with industrially proven optimization methods. The innovative industry products can be operated on-premises or in the cloud.
