Volkswagen AG has replaced the PSI solution that has been successfully in use since 2005 with the new intralogistics control center from PSI Software SE. Besides the proven basic functions for data collection, monitoring, and alarm management of transport and warehouse processes in production hall 55 at the Wolfsburg site, the user-oriented and AI-based software offers numerous new functions.
These include the integration of PSIqualicision, which provides the basis for AI-supported organization, control, and data analysis specifically for automotive manufacturers. This enables focused optimization of internal material flows in production.
For plant managers and shift supervisors, PSIqualicision/ODS (Online Decision Support) delivers a central overview of the current status of the logistics system. The SCADA-based intralogistics control room visualizes malfunctions, detects anomalies, and allows immediate action to be taken in the production process in order to respond quickly to disruptions and minimize production downtime. The simple user interface enables users to configure parameters independently at the plant and data level using integrated no-code/low-code functionality.
The process is connected to pallet stations, barcode scanners, cameras, and reading points of the transport infrastructure using OPC UA standard. PSI's proprietary communication technology offers easy connectivity to third-party software as well as additional platform components via further standards such as REST or MQTT. It also enables processes to be orchestrated via a workflow-based system using predictive maintenance and servicing, also for the successful implementation of Industry 5.0 projects. This increases efficiency, reduces costs, and improves production reliability.
Moreover, PSIqualicision/ODS offers functions such as a shift log, the visualization of production status via digital information boards (so-called ANDON boards) in the production hall, a logic editor for mapping complex data relationships, as well as an intuitive report generator. The integrated quality and test column serves also as a digital twin.
The PSI Group develops software products for optimizing the flow of energy and materials for utilities and industry. As an independent software producer with more than 2,300 employees, PSI has been a technology leader since 1969 for process control systems that ensure sustainable energy supply, production and logistics by combining AI methods with industrially proven optimization methods. The innovative industry products can be operated on-premises or in the cloud.
