AI optimizes maintenance planning in strategic asset management
Berlin, August 6, 2026 – PSI Software SE has successfully completed its tasks in the third phase of the groundbreaking Kopernikus ENSURE project. Funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space, the project aims to test modular and flexible approaches for future-proof network structures in hybrid real-world operations. In its assigned component, PSI worked on AI methods for optimized maintenance planning in strategic asset management.
As part of the third phase of ENSURE, launched in 2023, PSI focused on data-driven validation of strategic decisions. To this end, a combinatorial network simulation was linked to multi-criteria optimization via PSI’s own Qualicision engine.
A further focus was on “Explainable AI”: using a visualization demonstrator, complex mathematical evaluation steps—such as conflict and compatibility analysis (KV analysis) were made transparent and comprehensible to users, enabling well-founded and reliable approval by subject matter experts (human-in-the-loop). The data and algorithms obtained during the project provide a valuable basis for future practical application.
The PSI Group develops software products for optimizing the flow of energy and materials for utilities and industry. As an independent software producer with nearly 2,300 employees, PSI has been a technology leader since 1969 for process control systems that ensure sustainable energy supply, production and logistics by combining AI methods with industrially proven optimization methods. The innovative industry products can be operated on-premises or in the cloud.
