Scalable and AI-based functions for grid control, planning, and security
Berlin, July 16, 2026 – PSI Software SE will be presenting at Cigré 2026, the leading international conference for transmission system operators, in Paris (Palais des Congrès, Booth B111) from August 23 to 28, 2026 innovative software solutions for grid control, planning, and security. Alongside fact-based AI, GenAI and agentic AI-based applications will also be shown, enabling decision support and optimization tasks to be explained and controlled using natural language. In addition, key findings from energy-related research projects in which PSI is engaged will be showcased.
One highlight will be the PSIcontrol grid control system, featuring the latest functions for highly efficient operation at all grid levels. These include, amongst others, significantly improved interoperability and scalable process integration based on PSIconnect.
With PSIconnect, PSI will demonstrate how high-performance and secure data exchange for Critical Infrastructure Systems (CIS) can be implemented in both the control system and corporate IT. The integrated Reporting & Analytics module enables convenient analysis, preparation, and further processing of data without disruptive interventions in the control system.
Furthermore, the PSIsaso system—featuring the Security Assessment & System Optimization modules—will be demonstrated with an application for voltage and reactive power management. As part of this, calculation modules for Dynamic Security Assessment will be explained, including basic functionalities such as transient frequency stability and small-signal stability.
In addition, a PMU-based (Phasor Measurement Unit) service developed as part of the EU-funded Daedalos research project will be shown, which detects and localizes oscillations in the power grid.
Besides, AI-optimized maintenance and asset management planning aimed at reducing grid operation costs will be showcased. This was applied and expanded within the Kopernikus ENSURE Phase 3 research project, which was funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space.
Furthermore, the cloud-enabled grid planning software PSIneplan will be presented for the planning, analysis, and simulation, as well as the technical and economic optimization of power grid expansion.
As the European market leader in energy control systems for electricity, gas, heat, oil, and water, PSI offers modern, holistic grid control systems and software for monitoring, controlling, and optimizing grids. These include, for example, advanced functions for smart grid management, field force management, energy trading and sales, portfolio and risk management, gas transmission and storage, as well as AI and cloud-based applications.
The PSI Group develops software products for optimizing the flow of energy and materials for utilities and industry. As an independent software producer with 2,300 employees, PSI has been a technology leader since 1969 for process control systems that ensure sustainable energy supply, production and logistics by combining AI methods with industrially proven optimization methods. The innovative industry products can be operated on-premises or in the cloud.
