Berlin, April 23, 2026 – PSI Software SE has won the Factory Innovation Award 2026 in the “Artificial Intelligence in the Factory” category. As a provider of ERP and MES software, PSI prevailed over renowned competitors and accepted the award at this year’s Hannover Messe.

Awarded was the PSIpenta/MES software solution with its adaptive Scheduling and Sequencing modules based on PSI’s AI-powered standard components. These components are, among others, built on PSIqualicision AI technology and advanced fuzzy logic with an ML algorithm for adaptive optimizing local and global KPIs.

The jury particularly highlighted the innovative approach with which the system handles complex, multi-stage manufacturing processes. Unlike conventional “black-box solutions,” the company relies on an interactive system that proactively engages with the user via chat and voice.

A decisive factor for the award was the explainability of the AI: planners can question proposed sequences at any time and have the underlying logic explained to them. This transparency fosters deep trust in this technology and is key to high acceptance of AI in everyday factory operations.

It was also the economic relevance that fully convinced the jury: With a measurable increase in production output in the range of 10 percent, the solution sets new standards for the use of artificial intelligence in modern production.

PSI builds on around 30 years of experience using AI methods for decision support and business process optimization, which has already proven successful in PSI products at client companies.
The “Factory Innovation Award” competition is one of the most prestigious awards for smart factory software in Europe. An independent jury of experts consisting of journalists, consultants, users, and researchers selects an overall winner in various categories. The award is organized by the Industry 4.0 Center at the University of Potsdam in cooperation with the Berlin-based GITO Publishing House and the trade journal FACTORY INNOVATION.

The PSI Group develops software products for optimizing the flow of energy and materials for utilities and industry. As an independent software producer with more than 2,300 employees, PSI has been a technology leader since 1969 for process control systems that ensure sustainable energy supply, production and logistics by combining AI methods with industrially proven optimization methods. The innovative industry products can be operated on-premises or in the cloud.
